Teresa "Teri" Heckendorf has served as a Director of AAGLA for the past 13 years, and currently serves on AAGLA's Finance and Legal Affairs Committees.

 

Teri was born in Chandler, Arizona, and later moved to California. She It received an Associate of Arts Degree at West Los Angeles College, and also acknowledges AAGLA and life as playing important roles in her education.

 

Her background includes working as. a drugstore clerk, a printed circuit board manufacturer, an electronic assembler, a test technician, electrical engineer and a property manager.

 

Teri became involved with AAGLA when she and her husband, Robert, purchased a triplex in Santa Monica that a family member had built. They later sold that property and now own a property in West Los Angeles and another in Culver City.

 

It was as a new apartment owner that Ten joined AAGLA and started attending the monthly Saturday Morning Membership Meetings. There she learned answers to all the questions a new apartment owner could have. She says that had she not become involved with AAGLA, she would not still be an apartment owner today.

 

By participating in the monthly AAGIA member meetings, Teri was encouraged to apply for a spot on AAGLA's Board of Directors. She says that she has learned a lot over the years from her fellow directors, who she lauds as an outstanding collection of men and women. As an AAGLA director, Teri hopes the organization will continue being able to serve its old-time members who may not be as computer savvy as some of the newer, technologically knowledgeable members. Teri lives in Venice with her husband, Robert, who is retired from the Boeing Satellite Systems division. Her family also includes her stepson David, who is a Systems Financial Analyst with Comcast.

 

Teri's and Robert's other interests include travel, and Datsun Z car clubs.
